Great Grandpa - "PAPA" in Emmy's mind.

My grandfather has been such an important part of my life. He has acted as my father since mine left, never missed a game or event and even gave me away at our wedding. He has been in love with Emmy and she will miss her papa. It will be hard to not see him a few times a week and I am grateful to have Yancey's support in this time.
We are going to go through some adjustments as we have been preparing our house for grandma to move in with us. This will more then likely happen after the holidays. It will take some time to prepare her home and move everything out after 34 years in the same house. She is having a tough time. They were to celebrate their 65th anniversary in January. It was a marriage and connection most people will never achieve. I can't imagine her heart break. I am just blessed I had 34 years with him and that Annie, Jack and Emerson had the pleasure to know him for as long as they did.

Our loving husband, dad and grandfather Anthony (Tony) Walyer passed away on December 3, 2009. He was born on June 24, 1921 in Yakima, WA. He was one of six children to Katherine and Sylvester Walyer. He is survived by his sisters: Mary, Barb, Fran and Tenee and younger brother Andy. He was preceded in death by his brother Eddy.

Survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his daughters, Sherry, Pam, Debby and Sue, his wonderful grandchildren, Aimee, Becky, Ricky, Tammy, Jamie, Jere, Randy, Sissy, Mitch and Kelly. Also survived by his 16 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Tony served in the Air Corp and Army from 1942 to 1946. He spent his life running his radiator business and loved going to work every day. He had many hobbies, none of which came before time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved watching their athletic events and never missed a function. His passion for travel was evident and he always shared these experiences with his children and grandchildren. His love for fishing and the outdoors was obvious throughout his life. He lived his life to the fullest and never took a day for granted. He touched many hearts along the way.

He was the definition of family man! He loved his wife Shirley dearly and they were about to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary this January. They together created a family, created memories and created love that will endure all time. We all will miss him dearly!

Kelly and Family -- We had no idea about your grandpa until this evening when I read this post. We're so sorry . . .

Mike and I were glad to have had the opportunity to know him. The post is a nice tribute.
